SUMMARY:"Canals\, Conventions\, and Change- Women’s Rights and the Erie Canal"
DESCRIPTION:The Anthony Museum is pleased to be participating in Corn Hill Navigation’s Unlocking the Past Speaker Series on Riverie: Navigating the Erie Canal during the first 200 years. This series takes an in-depth dive into the values\, customs\, ideas\, and creativity that were sparked by the opening of the Erie Canal and the impact this waterway had on the individual and on the collective society of upstate NY and beyond. We will have educational presentations along with hands on art cruises to create a better understanding of what canallers did during long days traveling along the canal. \nAllison Hinman\, Chief Operating Officer at the Anthony Museum\, will present: “Canals\, Conventions\, and Change- Women’s Rights and the Erie Canal.” This presentation will explore Susan B. Anthony’s experiences as she and other reformers advocated for woman’s rights and abolition in canal towns and cities across New York State. \nTo register\, visit https://cornhillnav.org/riverie/speaker-series/
