DESCRIPTION:When White Women Wanted a Monument to Black “Mammies”: A 1923 Fight Shows Confederate Monuments Are About Power\, Not Southern Heritage\nLecturer: Alison Parker\, PhD\nAlison Parker is History Department Chair & Richards Professor of American History at the University of Delaware. She has research and teaching interests in women’s and gender history\, African American history\, and legal history.  Dr. Parker is going to share a slice of history about white women’s racist memorialization to the “Black Mammy.
