GOT RIGHTS?

Grade level: 2nd grade – 3rd grade
Students explore what rights are and consider the rights that they have and do not have as young people. Students review the civil rights causes Susan B. Anthony fought for and the different methods she used to advocate for change, while also considering what problems need to be addressed today. After these discussions, students are randomly assigned to teams to answer review questions and learn how the ability to participate relates to exercising one’s rights.
CHANGE-IT!
Duration: 1 hour
Grade level: 4th grade – 12th grade
Students explore the rights that women did not have in the 19th century, particularly those related to property, wages, equal pay, and higher education. Students also review the causes that Susan B. Anthony fought for in her lifetime, who she worked with, the tactics they used for change, and how we can be changemakers today. After these discussions, students create a slogan and a poster to advocate for a right once denied to women, write and deliver a short speech, and protest for their cause around the Carriage House.
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL?
Duration: 1 hour
Grade level: 9th grade – 12th grade
Students discuss modern causes that they care about and how they can advocate for them. Students consider what justice is, how it can be achieved, and how justice relates to creating an advocacy plan. Following these discussions, students choose a current cause or issue that they care about, create a mission statement for how they wish to address it, design a policy advocacy poster, and share their work with the class.
COLLEGE CHAT

Offered after an in-person or virtual House tour, the Anthony Museum hosts a class discussion tailored to the themes and objectives of a higher education course! In collaboration with the course professor, the Director of Education will create and facilitate a thought-provoking discussion that connects Susan B. Anthony’s work to the subject matter of a college/university course.
VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS
Duration: 1-2 hours
Grade level: 2nd grade-College/University
Bring Susan B. Anthony’s story to wherever you are with a guided virtual tour of her National Historic Landmark home! Join with your group via Zoom to explore all three levels of the Anthony House and learn how Susan lived and worked for civil rights from her headquarters at 17 Madison Street. Virtual field trips are live online events led by Anthony Museum staff, so participants are encouraged to engage in discussion and ask questions throughout the virtual visit! A virtual version of our educational program offerings can also be added to a virtual House tour for a longer, more in-depth field trip experience.
