Dear Members,

It was just over one month ago, on September 26, that a fire at the National Landmark Susan B. Anthony House destroyed the house’s back porch. The fire detection system triggered an alarm and the Rochester Fire Department arrived in minutes, so damage was limited. We have nothing but praise for the Rochester Fire Department and the firefighters who performed professionally and with respect for this historic home. We also appreciate all the professionals who worked hard to clean up after the fire so that 17 Madison Street could once again open for public tours.

On a more positive note, we are thrilled to announce the 2022 Susan B. Anthony Birthday Celebration speaker, MiMi Aung. Please save the evening of February 9 for an opportunity to be inspired and recharged. You can read the feature story on this celebration and soon we will be sending you more detailed information on the event.

Also in this newsletter you can read about October’s lecture for the Monday Lecture Series, and information about the November offering, which features author and activist Marguerite Kearns.

We thank you for your past support of the Anthony Museum. Your membership and support contributed in part to the cameras and security systems that worked so well the night of the fire. We are faced with replacing the back porch, restoring the door that was damaged, and bolstering security to higher levels. Your continued support through membership is more crucial than ever, and will help us build for the future.

As we approach the end of the year, please consider an additional gift to the Anthony Museum’s Annual Fund to insure that we can continue to share Susan B. Anthony’s message as we advocate for women’s rights, voting rights, and human rights! Click here to make a donation today.

I hope to see some of you at the upcoming events, either face-to-face or via Zoom!
