The Mother of Us All, an opera by Virgil Thomson to a libretto by Gertrude Stein, chronicles the life of Susan B. Anthony. In fanciful style, it brings together characters, fictional and non-fictional, from different periods of American history.

Speaker Announced for Susan B. Anthony 200th Birthday Dinner

Susan B. ROCs her second century at this historic event!

Rochester, NY– Many world leaders are forgotten by subsequent generations, but Susan B. Anthony persists as the center of attention. As the nation celebrates the centennial of the 19th Amendment, we will be celebrating Susan B. Anthony’s 200th Birthday, in Rochester, NY, which was her home base during her 40 most politically active years.

Tena Clark

The keynote speaker for the 2020 Susan B. Anthony Birthday Dinner is Tena Clark,  author of Southern Discomfort, and a Grammy award-winning producer. Clark is also the CEO/Chief Creative Officer for DMI Music & Media Solutions, and her work spans film, television, stage, records, and brands. Join us to discover more about this multi-faceted, multi-talented woman.

Our big party will take place February 12, 2020 at the Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center, 123 E. Main Street, Rochester, NY.  Celebrating Susan B. Anthony’s birthday is a tradition that began in her lifetime and continues to this day to honor contemporary women who continue her legacy, and to raise awareness of the educational and inspirational programs offered by the Anthony Museum.

Susan B. Anthony’s 200th Birthday Celebration Dinner

Join us at this historic event as we celebrate Susan B. Anthony’s 200th Birthday with with a special dinner and fundraiser on February 12, 2020 at the Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center, 123 E. Main Street, Rochester, NY, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

The Convention Center will open  at 4:30 pm, with the general reception (cash bar) open at 5:00pm. Dinner is at 6:00 pm.

The evening will feature the keynote speaker, Tena Clark. You may know her as the author of Southern Discomfort, or as a Grammy award-winning musician and composer. But there is a lot more to this woman than you know already. Come find out!

Celebrating Susan B. Anthony’s birthday is a tradition that began in her lifetime, and this year the celebration rises to a new level.  At the same time, the celebration  continues to honor contemporary women who continue her legacy, and to raise awareness of the educational and inspirational programs offered by the Anthony Museum.

2019 Suffragist City Parade

Encouraging Voter Participation!

 

WHAT: The Suffragist City Parade and Block Party, a project of the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House

WHEN: Saturday, September 14, 2019, 10:00AM-1:30PM

WHERE: The Parade steps off at 10:00AM at W. Main and N. Washington Streets. The parade route will take marchers down W. Main St., north on Madison St., and past the Anthony Museum. The Parade ends at Susan B. Anthony Square Park with a Block Party until 1:30PM.

The theme of the Parade is We the People—Equality for All People,and celebrates Rochester’s connection to the voting rights movement, its history, and relevance today. The Parade will be include Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, with over 30 marching units and bands participating.

After the Parade, Susan B. Anthony Square Park will be the location for music (acts include Flower City Pride Band, the Harriet Tubman Singers from Auburn, and the Raging Grannies).  Art Force 5 will create a collaborative work of art aided by onlookers. Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, and other role models will be in the Park to share their inspirational stories. Votercade 2020 will be present with a vintage car and a preview of  2020 activities. Food trucks, ice cream, and beverages will be on site, too, so participants are encouraged to stay for lunch!
